I am the Deputy HAF (HR) and EEDI lead for the Department. I support the HAF with the day to day non-academic management and administration of the Department of Earth Sciences. I deal with Employee Reward, HR Strategy, Policy and Procedures, HR Management and Delivery, Employee Recruitment, Retention & Management and Work Permits and Visas. I also oversee the day to day work of the HR Apprentie. The HR function looks after 130 employees divided into different staffing groups with different terms and conditions: academic, academic-related, administrative, technical and casual staff. I also have responsibility for developing and delivering the Department’s EEDI strategy and I have taken the administrative lead on the Athena SWAN application alongside the Chair of EEDI Committee.
I am the first port of call for both managers and staff when discussing HR issues, from projects needs, to absence, or disciplinary and greivance matters.
I line manage a HR Apprentice who assists me with the day to day HR administration for the department.
I am a member of CIPD and have gained a Diploma in Level 5 CIPD HR Management.
