Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Metamorphic Geochemistry

We are seeking to appoint Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Metamorphic Geochemistry to join an active and collaborative research group led by Associate Professor Palin in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford. The group focuses on fluid–melt–rock interactions across a range of metamorphic and geodynamic settings, including Early Earth evolution, long-term changes in tectonics and magmatism, and the formation of critical metal-bearing systems.

Postdoctoral Research Assistant in lithium behaviour in volcano-sedimentary systems

Reporting to the Profs Jon Blundy and Tamsin Mather, the post holder will have responsibility for carrying out research on the NERC-funded project LiVS: The fate of lithium during magmatic and volcanic processes in volcano-sedimentary systems. This project seeks to understand an emergent class of soft rock Li sources known as lithium volcano-sedimentary (LiVS) deposits, including the world’s largest geological lithium resource at Thacker Pass in the USA.

Postdoctoral Research Associate in Global Seismology – X2

The post holders will join the DEEPSCAPE group in the Department of Earth Sciences to work on the PRISM-MTZ project funded by NERC. This project aims to quantitatively image the bulk structure and discontinuity topographies of the mantle transition zone (MTZ), to quantify trade-offs between these and to deduce fluxes of heat and material across the MTZ.

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Carbonate Mineralisation to join the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford. You will work with Professor Julie Cosmidis on the NERC-funded project “Decoding carbonates: towards predictive control of carbon mineralisation through high-throughput mineralogy and machine learning.” This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative research at the interface of mineralogy, geochemistry, and data science.

The post holder will seek out funding from all relevant funding bodies, including research councils, industry, charities, the EU and novel/creative sources.
