News Images and Filming

If you are planning a news story featuring research from the Department and wish to film in our building, conduct photography, or use images from our image library, please contact communications@earth.ox.ac.uk. 

A Short Filming Agreement must be completed prior to filming in the Department. External parties may also be subject to a filming fee. Please contact the Communications Team to discuss.

Written consent must be obtained prior to filming or photography if images or film can be used to identify the individuals within. This is considered personal data for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Commercial Filming and Photography

The Department of Earth Sciences welcomes commercial film and photographic crews of all sizes to our modern, research-centric facilities.

Filming Guidelines

  • Small crew (less than 10 people) filming may take place during University term-time, but approval must be sought from the Communications Team and Facilities Team prior to commencement.
  • Large crew (more than 10 people) filming must take place outside of University term-time, and on weekends wherever possible. This is subject to approval from a greater number of teams, so please place your request no less than three months in advance.
